Yet another Social Bookbarking Toolbar ?

Submitatonce Site Love Toolbar. I don’t know why, but I found both Social Marker and Social Poster a bit . . . . . well, the idea was great but it wasn’t for me. Onlywire is a great time saver but I don’t know why it often fails with some of the services mentioned in their list. There is a workaround like you need to be always logged in to all the services during the bookmarking process which kills the push button type usability it is known for.

So what I did at that time was developed my own system which involves a tabbed browser like Firefox and RoboForm (not just the best password manager around but more than that …) .

Lately Shareaholic, which is a Firefox (and Flock) add on, is in the news and it really is very user friendly. No wonder it is enjoying a huge fan following. I also like Shareaholoic and actually have it installed in both Firefox andFlock. But then again, I found that there are a few services that are not included in this excellent extension. Faves, Propeller, Soup etc. to name a few of them.

I was discussing about it with one of my friends who gave me a simple yet effective solution – “Why don’t you amke your own extension or a may be a toolbar”. “But I know nothing about it”, I said. “Then find out how to do it”, replied my friend. And soon enough I learned how to make a toolbar and decided to create one to make my tagging exercises fast and easy. And here it is – the Submitatonce Site Love Toolbar. I primarily made it for myself but some of my friends tested it (I asked some of my friends to test it) and they appreciated my work. Encouraged by the appreciation I decided to go ahead and put it up here for you to download and install. I don’t know if you are going to like it, but I love my stuff .

Oh, by the way, I have’ shamelessly’ added a few links which will take you to my web site promotion and diectory submission service site pages. Hope, it’s OK with you . . . may be you might require that too.

What do you think ? Want to give it a try ? Great. It’s right up there on the top of the sidebar. Firefox and Flock users can install it instantly as usual, while if you are still using Internet Explorer only, you have to download the toolbar first ( some services might just not work in Internet Explorer ). You may get warning like always and have to allow the installation.

I’ve been Firefox for quite some time now…. in fact I’m using it for more than 3 years. Not that I totally dumped Internet Explorer since I design web sites for my self and you need to test a web page in IE as it’s actually used by the vast majority of internet users. And I did like the IE7 a lot.

Recently I installed the Flock browser using it along with Firefox and Internet Explorer. I won’t use the word “switch” because I haven’t switched from Firefox to Flock, only added it to my arsenal. And Flock is an awesome browser. Simply brilliant. Since Flock is built on the same engine that runs Firefox (Gecko), the browsing experience is very much similar to Firefox. It’s like a powerful enhanced version of Firefox. Thirty Day Challenge 2008 – Pre Season is here

The annual Thirty Day Challenge is almost here again. Ed Dale raised the curtain by announcing the beginning of the Pre Season earlier today on the Thirty Day Challenge TV. TDC 2007 was my first ever and I did make the $10 well before it was over. And it was my first affiliate commission ever. What a feeling that was. Web 2.0 and social bookmarking and using them to build and promote your site was the highlight of the 2007 version of the Thirty Day Challenge. When you are looking to make from your web sites or blog, everything boils down to one single factor. Traffic. I mean web traffic. Do you have enough web traffic or you don’t – that’s the key question every web site owner and blogger should ask themselves. And if you are looking for free traffic you need to follow some simple and a few not so simple guidelines.

If you are not a complete newbie in the internet marketing arena you should have known by now that the in order to get free traffic you have to depend on the search engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN or Live.com. Search engines crawl your sites and index them. whenever a searcher searches search for a topic by typing one of the keywords around which we have created your web site or blog, the search engine returns with several search result. You goal is to be among the top 10 of those search results. Easier said than done. But you can do it. Yes, with sincere effort you can beat all your competitors to the first page of any search engine, if not achieve the top position. It depends on your targeted keywords, your contents and whether you have optimized your web site for the search engines. SEO is vital. It’s the backbone of free organic traffic.

You have to make sure that your web site or blog is optimized. You need both on-page and off-page SEO for all your web pages and blog posts. Selection of keywords and using them effectively throughout your web pages – that’s on-page optimization for you in a nutshell. You should utilize your web page meta tags to the fullest extent especially the Title tag and the Description tag. A Very Happy New Year 2008.

Best wishes for the new year. May 2008 be your most successful year online.

So, how are things going to be in the year 2008 for you ? Well, the answer is simple – the way you want it to be. Stay informed, get organized, do what you need to do and you will be on top.

Those of you who are yet to start their internet marketing endeavor, it’s time you actually get active. reading loads of ebooks won’t make you money, a little effort from your part will. Yes, you will make mistake. and you will learn from those mistakes. You will learn like no ebook could teach you ever. So, let the ball roll. The simplest ( and cheapest ) way to start ? Blogs. You can just sign up to www.blogspot.com or www.wordpress.com and begin your journey.

Facebook was one of the undisputable winners in 2007 along with iphones and some other things. Predictions are that in 2008 Facebook might go public. Or there be an acquisition. In 2008 Google may come up with more surprises stepping into new areas. The online video sharing sites like You Tube will continue to dominate as will the social networking sites like Facebook and MySpace. And blogging. Blogging could only grow and there will be more blogging stars in the internet marketing horizon and more and more people are going to make more and more money from their blogs.

Lastly, web promotion. Will there be a change ? The core will remain the same. There will be hardly any alternative to directory submission, article marketing through article submissions, social bookarking. In fact, social bookmarking, which is already a powerful back link provider, might just find more and more takers in 2008. Yes, I am sue there will be some improvisations and a few innovations in this field that might just surprise us.

I have always believed that social bookmarking sites are excellent sources for quality back links as well as targeted traffic. Website Submission 2007 and beyond

When I say website submission I mean much more than just Search Engine Submission. And in fact when you decide to submit your website to various resources, you can safely bypass Search Engine submission. Let the search engines find you naturally. that’s the way they like it and it’s wise that you agree to it. Though after several months you may submit your site to different smaller search engines. But make it absolutely sure not to submit to too many search engines in a short period of time. Submitting to 500 search engines within 3 days will only harm your ranking.

The purpose of website submission is twofold. Firstly to gain one way backlinks for your site and secondly to get free traffic for your site. And both can be achieved if done in a correct way. So, what’s the correct way to do it ? Do it manually. No Search engines, Web Directories or Article Directories like automatic submission by software programs. They call it spamming and often take steps to stop this. Better submit it manually or hire a manual submission service to do it for you.

Now what are the resources where you can submit your website blog, articles or press releases? Let’s take a look at all of them but one at a time.

Directory Submission : There are hundreds of web directories where you can submit your web site. Web directories are very good resources and you should always look to use it to your advantage. There are thre kinds of submissions available – free, reciprocal and paid. I suggest that you always go with the free ones in spite of the fact that they may take some time to approve your submission. And make sure that you have selected the most appropriate category while submitting.

Article Submission : You can submit an article to the numerous article directories and ezines available all over the internet. Typical articles have ‘anchor texts’ hyperlinked to your original site and serve as excellent backlinks. Just bookmark your sites in social bookmarking sites like Digg, Technorati etc. and if others find your site to be interesting enough, they will add your site to their list of bookmarked sites and you will gain a huge number of one-way links for your site with as little effort as it requires. And it does generate instant free traffic to your site at the same time.

Press Release Submission â€“ This is another powerful yet under utilized resource. It can effortlessly produce hundreds of qualified backlinks for your website. Whenever you introduce a new feature on your website or make an important blog post, do a press release on it. Write a press release about any new or unique feature of your website and submit the release to various press release sites. Apart from these resources you can also try commenting on blog posts, posting in reputed forums as well as social networking sites like myspace.com. Put your link where ever you can. Try to be innovative. Have you ever thought of using Yahoo Answers as a resource. Try it out – it may just prove to be a gold mine in the near future. And the same thing goes with Web 2.0 – it may just change the internet we know.

I hope the above mentioned methods will help you to earn all important backlinks for your site and at the same time push you up in the search engine result pages. One thing I’d like to mention here is while submitting you should always try to use your targeted and theme keywords as anchor texts for your backlinks as the major search engines put so much importance on the anchor text links pointing to your website. Wondering why Google is taking so long to index your web site ? Or why the Google’s spider, Googlebot doesn’t visit your site frequently ?

Well, in both the cases you have to invite Google to your web site. And invitations should be frequent.

Wait, don’t even think for a while that I am suggesting you to submit your site to Google repeatedly. It’s an absolute “No No”.

What I am trying to say is leaving your web site links in different places ( read web sites ) in the world wide web such that Google can follow it and land up in your site. I am not talking about sending emails and asking other sites to link back to you. I am talking about how you can achieve this yourself.

So, how you can post links to web sites that Google frequently visits ? And which are the web sites anyway ?

Here’s a quiz for you to answer -

1. Name one Blog that Google may like most of all.

2. Name a couple Forums that Google visits frequently.

3. Name a community sites that Google may prefer.

4. If you have a short video, where do you post it ?

5. Name 3 big directories other than Yahoo and Dmoz.

Hello friends,

Do you have a website of your own ? Hope you have got it optimized for the search engines already. If not you can start right now. The tips i am giving here is very contemporary and surely will help you rank high with the search engines.

Here are a dozen of killer SEO techniques (I love to call them as Extreme SEO Techniques)that I strongly recommend you to
follow when it comes to optimizing your web site.

1. Select 8 most appropriate keywords for your site,
2. Write the title tag using those keywords.
3. Write a short meta description based on those keywords as well.
4. Make sure the head area of your web page is not too deep.
5. The body of the web document should start with a H1 tag.
6. H2, H3 tags should follow shortly.
7. Do not forget to use the ‘Alt’ attribute for the images.
8. Before using the images on your site rename them using your
keywords like keyword1.jpg or keyword2.gif etc.
9. If your site is layer based use your keywords to name the div id.
10. And use them to name every table and form you use inside your
web page.
11. Do not name web pages as about.html. Rather make it like
about-dog-training.html or about-email-services.html.
12. Name the directories based on your keywords. For example, if you
have a directory called ‘company’ and if your site is about web
designing, then rename the directory as ‘web-design-company’.

Paid, reciprocal and free inclusions

I always prefer free inclusions unless the directory in question is of high repute. But if you prefer to pay for your listing make sure that the category page where you will be listed have a Page Rank at least more than one. In most cases you will be offered Special Featured listings. Just check that the Featured Listing page is relevant and worthy. I recommend that should you have to buy special inclusions, go for the Niche Directories. That way you will be able to acquire back links from web pages relevant to your site. and relevancy does matter.

For directories that ask for Reciprocal Link Exchanges make a separate link page and place the links in that page. Please don’t jeopardize your quest for higher page rank by placing all sorts of links from your home page. If your site is about ‘Interior Designing’ you should not place a ‘Dog Training’ web site link on your Home page. That will be a blunder.

Don’t hurry while submitting to directories

After quite sometime now I have got the chance to resume writing on how to make best out of directory submission. So let’s get going again.

While searching for directory submission services, you may have come across ad campaigns like “We submit your web site to 100 directories in 2 days time”. But, believe me, that’s not the way to do it. If you do not already know it, please be noted that as far as the visibility of your site is concerned, you can’t make it big overnight. And it’s not wise to get loads of links in a very short period of time. That’s not natural. And every body nowadays know that Google and all other major search engines doesn’t like things that are artificial and are somewhat manipulated in one way or the other.

So, make sure that your directories are submitted in a time span ranging from 7 to 14 days minimum. In that way, considering that the directories will take on some time to approve your submission, you will make it absolutely sure that your links are being built up in a safe and effective manner and which is very nice.
