When I say website submission I mean much more than just Search Engine Submission. And in fact when you decide to submit your website to various resources, you can safely bypass Search Engine submission. Let the search engines find you naturally. that’s the way they like it and it’s wise that you agree to it. Though after several months you may submit your site to different smaller search engines. But make it absolutely sure not to submit to too many search engines in a short period of time. Submitting to 500 search engines within 3 days will only harm your ranking.

The purpose of website submission is twofold. Firstly to gain one way backlinks for your site and secondly to get free traffic for your site. And both can be achieved if done in a correct way.
