You Can’t Pay Rent With Page Views
September 4, 2009 – 4:30 amWould you take your next paycheck in page views? or users? or followers? or visitors? or eyeballs (remember that one from the 90s)? Go down to the corner store and plunk down a million impressions for a gum ball. They’ll probably call the cops. – 37 signals blog
Moral of the story: Traffic is a necessity to find success with an online business, but it’s what you do with that traffic that defines success.
I was watching a video yesterday where a forum owner took his site from $400, to $400,000 in revenue per month. The traffic was there, the monetization strategy was all wrong. It’s not enough to attract masses of users to your site. How you intend to profit from those users is just as important.

Glad my work was helpful.
And I love the 37 Signals post you linked to. I wonder how long it takes Jason to write such a well-thought out post.
