How to find out if Google has indexed your directory submissions
February 4, 2009 – 5:35 am
The main purpose of manual directory submission is to get back-links from the directories. Probably it’s the sole purpose also as you don’t expect to get traffic from web directories. there aren’t many people who searches directories to search for a site. They would rather use search engines for that.
OK, let us suppose that you have submitted your web site to several directories. If you have ever done so you should know that the directories take several weeks to several months to approve a submission. DMOZ, the open source directory, seems to take forever to approve a submission. So, you have to wait for some time before you could expect your site URL, title and description to appear in the web directories. Allow 4 weeks after you have received the submission report from the directory submission service you hired to outsource your submission job. By the way, it’s a better idea not to use the keyword or key phrase only as your submission title. For example, if your site is about article writing, the title could be like this – Affordable Article Writing Services. Not only it is an acceptable title it also allows you to find that how many back links you have got from the submission. So, what exactly do you need to do ?
Supposing http://www.myarticlewritingsite.com/ is your web site address, do a web search in Google with the following – "Affordable Article Writing Services" "http://www.myarticlewritingsite.com/". Make sure that you do a "phrased" search which means that you keep the keywords inside "". The search will immediately return with results which will show the submissions that are already indexed by Google. Keep doing it from time to time ( twice every month) and you will discover the web directories which have your links and have been indexed by Google.

This is a great tip to help track submissions. It definitely looked like submission approvals are either very low or extremely slow. Also, since it’s a good idea to use rotating or varying titles, we’ll probably need to prepare in advance a set of titles we plan to use.

Though many people think that directory submission brings huge visitors for them, but we should put emphasis on having quality one way backlinks from the high-crawled link directory sites as the first and direct effect directory submission. Thanks for the great post, I like reading it from top to bottom.

We’re using a Rank tracker tool software but sometimes it does not work if the internet are very slow so we’re force to manually checking on Google search engine.
